In this gorgeously textured Best Picture nominee, Daniel Day-Lewis (in his final role) plays a renowned dressmaker at the center of British fashion. Director Paul Thomas Anderson (The Master) stitches Hitchcockian intrigue and 1950s London glamour into this portrait of an artist on a creative journey, and the women who keep his world running.

One is his exacting sister Cyril (Lesley Manville, picking up an Oscar nod) whose protective devotion to him gives Mrs. Danvers a run for her money (the influence of Rebecca on this film is hard to ignore). The other is the strong-willed Alma, who proves both his greatest muse and greatest distraction.

D: Paul Thomas Anderson, US, 2017, Runtime: 2h10m
