WGSS-Dickey Center International Internships
About the Initiative
The Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program has partnered with the Dickey Center's Global Health Initiative to sponsor international internship opportunities that link gender and health.
In 2015, the opportunity will be with Uniendo Manos Dominicana, in the Dominican Republic, an organization committed to cross-cultural understanding and self-sustaining initiatives in health, education and the environment in the town of Cotui. Selected interns work with community leaders in Las Auyamas on projects focusing on health education and public health efforts.
This internship is open to all enrolled undergraduates (sophomore level or higher), graduate and medical students who will be returning to Dartmouth for at least one term following the internship. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in Spanish during the selection interview. The internships will last 6-8 weeks and will be located in Cotui and Las Auyamas, Dominican Republic.
- Undergraduate students who are rising sophomores or above.
- Students who have completed a research methods (qualitative and/or quantitative) course.
- The ability to adapt to changing priorities and demonstrate flexibility while ensuring project quality.
