Getting straight A’s. Giving zero F’s.

Besties Molly and Amy essentially aced high school and are headed to the Ivies. On the eve of their graduation though, these two overachievers realize that they should have worked less and played more. Determined not to fall short of their peers, the girls decide to cram four years of fun into one riotous night. Party crashing, hallucinogens, projectile vomiting and incarceration ensue.

Not since Superbad has a high school comedy so perfectly nailed how exhilarating it feels to act out at that age, capturing the thrill of making a series of potentially irreversible mistakes with the person who’s always been there for you. Leads Beanie Feldstein (Jonah Hill’s sister) and Kaitlyn Dever are spot-on as endearing know-it-alls who have each other but still have a lot to learn. Co-written by Katie Silberman ’09, Booksmart brings a savage wit, wildly unpredictable plot and refreshing take (friendship over hookups, a stop-motion sequence with Barbies) to the world of teen comedy.
