Research Associate; Postdoctoral Fellow in Asian-American Studies

Kelly Chung is a Dean’s Postdoctoral Fellow in Asian American Studies with an appointment in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She received her Ph.D. in Performance Studies at Northwestern University with certificates in Critical Theory and Gender & Sexuality Studies. She writes and teaches at the intersections of performance studies, Asian American Studies, critical ethnic studies, feminist and queer theory, and aesthetic criticism. She is currently working on a book manuscript that traces contemporary black and women of color feminist performances of inaction, including slowness, stillness, and negation, within scenes of racialized and feminized labor in the U.S. She is the former managing editor of the Journal of Critical Ethnic Studies, and her writing can be found in Women & Performance and Text & Performance Quarterly
