The Roundtable for Black Feminist and Womanist Theory was founded by Dr. K. Bailey Thomas in February 2020 in response to the lack of spaces dedicated for those whose work is centered within Black feminist and womanist traditions. The Roundtable operates first and foremost as a working-space geared towards aiding participants in their publication goals. Several pieces presented at the two previous meetings have resulted in peer-reviewed articles, manuscript proposals, dissertation chapters, book chapters, and Op-Eds. Outside of the Collegium of Black Women Philosophers (CBWP) and the National Women’s Studies Association (NWSA), many Black feminist and womanist scholars have remarked that there are very few venues where they feel their work would be both respected and engaged in a collegial manner. The Roundtable was established in response to these concerns and to offer a working space as opposed to a large conference venue, as seen with CBWP and NWSA. Operating as a working-space allows for participants to receive thoughtful and engaged critical feedback on their projects, which can be difficult in a conference setting as the focus is usually on the presentation and not so much the specific content of the talk itself.  Please contact Dr. Thomas (Bailey.Thomas@Dartmouth.Edu) to register.  (Artwork: Swagger by Cecilia Lamptey-Botchway)
