Wednesday May 1 at 5 pm in Rocky 1. Sponsored by the Political Economy Project, the History Department, and the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program.
The Professor of History discusses her just-published book Consistent Democracy: The "Woman Question" and Self-Government in Nineteenth-Century America (Oxford, 2023). Described as “sweeping,” “sparkling with insights,” and “required reading for all those with a stake in democracy’s future,” Butler's book places women and their political rights at the center of American democratic history.
