For Two-Spirit artist and community organizer Snowflake Calvert, growing up on occupied Turtle Island (an Indigenous term referring to North America) as an Indigenous first-generation American has created deep struggles. In this intimate piece, Snowflake combines contemporary and traditional dance, performance art and drag to share aspects of her complex life and heritage. She collaborates with interdisciplinary artist Europa Grace, who infuses their perspectives and challenges as a queer and trans Black American. Through this work-in-progress sharing and development process, Snowflake seeks to offer audiences a way to use movement and choreography to explore their lineages and to heal.
