Description: The Mission of the Roundtable for Black Feminist and Womanist Theory is to unite scholars, activists, and artists across disciplines and professional trajectories who are working to highlight the intellectual contributions of Black women, femmes, and non-men throughout the African diaspora. This space functions as a working space for scholars and theorists of various backgrounds to receive feedback on their projects that will enrich Black feminist and womanist traditions. All participants, presenters and otherwise, are expected to uphold themselves in a collegial manner that allows the space to be a productive environment for all. While this space is not closed to Black women, femmes, and non-men, it is expected that presenters center these groups in their submitted works-in-progress. This is a pre-read event with each participant, or co-presenters, having 30 minutes to present and 30 minutes for Q & A. This allows for a deep and rigorous engagement with both the presentation and the paper itself to provide speakers with multi-layered feedback on their projects. Papers will only be circulated among the participants, keynotes, invited speakers, and moderators to protect the intellectual property of the unpublished material. Attendees may ask individual authors for their paper, but the organizer will not circulate them to anyone off of the program. The event will be hybrid with streaming on Zoom for those unable to attend in person.
