"Plots of Absolute Disorder: Locating a Queer of Color Coming of Age"
Plots of Absolute Disorder: Locating a Queer of Color Coming of Age names and investigates the emergent meta-genre queer of color coming of age. Tracing the historical bildungsroman into the present, this project beholds minoritarian fuckings-up of the coming-of-age genre as they disidentify and transmogrify into sites political force. Plots of Absolute Disorder tracks a performance against settler colonial regimes in the US and Palestine through queer of color re-fabulations of becoming and the undoings of nationalist, colonial, and imperial projects they dare to imagine. Texts include Casey McQuiston’s Red, White, and Royal Blue, Ocean Vuong’s On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous, Susan Abulhawa’s Against the Loveless World, Hansol Jung’s Wolf Play, Zavé Martohardjono’s TERRITORY, and Nadj al-Ali’s cartoons for Palestinian liberation.
